Family: Saturniidae (giant silk moths).
Geographic Distribution: North, Central and South America. From South America to southernmost tip of Texas.
Wingspan: 90-125 mm (3.5-5 in).
Larval host plants: Citrus spp., willow (Salix spp.), peach (Prunus spp.), lime prickly ash (Zanthoxylum fagara), Mexican ash (Fraxinus berlandieriana).
Habitats: Thorny scrub.
Identification: A large moth, medium reddish brown in color, with characteristic clear spots on both hindwings and forewings.
