Orange-barred Sulphur (Phoebis philea)


 

Orange-barred SulphurFamily: Pieridae (whites, yellows, and sulphurs).
 
Geographic Distribution: North, Central and South America. From Brazil north to southern Florida.
 
Wingspan: 70-80mm (2.75-3.25 in).
 
Larval host plants: Sennas (Cassia spp.).
 
Habitats: Tropical forest.
 
Identification: Males and females are dissimilar. Males are brilliant yellow, with orange bar on forewing; females are more variable, with dark border on both forewing and hindwing.
